Everything is beautiful at the ballet! No serious ballet dancer escapes the tradition of the Nutcracker. Dancers grow up through the variety of roles from Angel to Candy Cane to Flowers and every little girl dreams of being the Sugar Plum Fairy.
As a ballet dancer, I performed in the Nutcracker hundreds of times. Yet, I still get the chills when the conductor goes tap, tap, tap and the orchestra begins the prelude. Sometimes I cry when the Christmas tree grows. Knowing every role and every note of this ballet gives me the insight to anticipate the exact right moment to take the picture. The North Central Ballet gives credit to the tradition of the Nutcracker.
